This website is dedicated to providing links and resources for teachers who are tying to create a more interactive classroom by incorporating technology into their students' learning experiences.  

Instructional Games

There are many resources available online that provide a more interactive approach to teaching than the traditional lecture based method.  By incorporating these type of learning programs into the classroom, it helps to create a more learner-centered environment.  Below are several links to websites that provide free interactive resources to teacher in all different types of content areas including Literacy, Social Studies, Mathematic, and Science:

The Connected Classroom - this site contains links to various subject simulation pages, as well as other interactive websites.

Interact - this website provides information on different interactive software programs and CD-Roms that teachers can purchase and use in there classrooms.

The Active Classroom - a website for teachers that offers options for teaching Social Studies using alternative methods instead of traditional 'textbook' learning. 

Interactive Sites - this webpage provides links to interactive activities for every subject area, within each subject link there are additional categories of resources,  these actives include interactive websites, educational games, and simulation or role play. 

Lesson Planet - this website is for teacher, it has links to lesson plans, educational videos, worksheets, apps, and much much more.  You are required to be a member to access the information, but there is a trial period were teachers can use it for free.  

Meaningful Play - here is a site dedicated to finding the most meaningful educational games, it contains information about different types of games, and research that has been done in the area.  It also provides the opportunity for student to create their own educational game, which they can submit on this site for evaluation.  This could provide a great opportunity for students!

Relative Advantage:

The use of instructional games provides motivation for the students, visuals help clarify important concepts, provides practice and reinforcement of concepts, allows a self-paced learning environment, information is fast, free, and reusable, and frees teachers time from group teaching to work more individually with students.
